The Management of the Rio Secco Golf Course in Henderson, Nevada wanted to replace an existing and seldom used chipping green area with something that could potentially generate more business for the golf course. They met with Key Golf Management, who was providing their golf course maintenance services, and decided that the addition of a Wedding and Events Area would be a great addition to their course and replacement for the unused practice chipping green & bunker located behind the snack bar. The practice chipping green to be replaced was rarely used and was costing the golf course to maintain in products & labor so a replacement that would potentially generate additional revenue for the course, as well as serve as an additional attraction, was a win-win for Rio Secco.
To construct the new Wedding and Events area at Rio Secco, Key Golf needed to completely remove and replace the existing practice chipping area behind the snack bar. This required heavy equipment, licensing, permits and operators, which Key Golf was happy and able to provide.
Since weddings are often performed outside, golf courses can be great hosts to wedding parties due to their lush, scenic, and well manicured facilities. Key Golf was well aware of this and made sure that the new wedding and event area that lived up to this expectation and had a unique design that capitalized off of the breathtaking views of the Las Vegas Valley from this area.
Key Golf also recognized that there was an opportunity for Rio Secco to receive a “Water Smart Landscape Rebate” from the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) for the turf removal portion of the project. So Key Golf took great care in documenting the project properly and filing the necessary paperwork with SNWA in order for the golf course to receive the credits.
Key Golf and Rio Secco’s management decided to do the project over the winter months in order to complete the project in time for the Spring Wedding Season. Key Golf also committed to doing as much of the project as they could in-house. Key Golf also worked with the management of Rio Secco to develop the initial design of the new Wedding and Event area as well as the budget for project.
Key Golf provided the majority of the labor for the project, they provided the management for the project, and the contractor licensing. Key Golf sub-contracted out the pave-stone work, the concrete work, and the artificial turf installation.
From start to finish, the project only took 90 days total!
