The Loon reaches all skill levels of golfers with a combination of multiple tee areas and well designed bunkers. Since it’s opening in 1994 The Loon Golf Resort has been what “Friendly Championship Golf ” is all about. The Loon has generous landing areas, gently rolling fairways, large greens, and some of the most scenic views Northern Michigan has to offer.
Key Golf was hired to consult with the owners of The Loon Resort to help improve the overall conditions and maintenance practices of the course as well as to do a redesign to accommodate Butch Harmon’s School of Golf. First Key Golf started with its own Full Golf Course Assessment to identify the courses strengths and weaknesses. Key Golf then utilized it’s own in house construction team to add the features to course.
In 2011 Key Golf reconfigured hole #14 to accommodate a new green and tee complex. Since the old green was still usable it was converted into Butch Harmon’s short game area for his School of Golf. Key Golf also renovated several other Tee boxes throughout the course to increase yardage and playability.
